JONGHWA KIM, Prof. Dr. phil. Dr. habil.

Jonghwa Kim is a Privatdozent (associate professor) at the Faculty of Applied Computer Science, University Augsburg, Germany. Since Jan. 2017 he is also a full professor of Dept. Computer Software at the University of Science and Technology (UST), Daejeon, South Korea. He was born in Booyeo, South Korea, and studied Electronics Engineering (MSc.EE) at the Gacheon University, Korea. He received his Ph.D. degree (Dr. phil.), supported by the Scholarship NaFöG of the Berliner Senate, in Communication Engineering from the Technical University Berlin, Germany, in 2003. In 2002 he joined the Institute of Computer Science at the University Augsburg and was from 2004-2010 a Wiss. Assistent (C1, assistant professor). He received in 2010 his Habilitation degree (Dr. habil., Venia Legendi) in Computer Science from the University.

  • METABO (2008-2013), EU collaborative project with 21 partners, EU-FP7 ICT, Controlling Chronic Diseases related to Metabolic Disorders.
    • Objectives: to set up a  comprehensive platform, running both in clinical settings and in every-day life environments, for continuous and multi-parametric monitoring of the metabolic status in patients with, or at risk of, diabetes and associated metabolic disorders
    • Function: Coauthor of Proposal, Workpackage Leader of “In-vehicle Emotive Monitoring” and “CDSS Modeling Strategies and Methods”
  • CALLAS (2006-2010), EU integrated project with 14 partners, EU-FP6 IST, Conveying Affectiveness in Leading-edge Living Adaptive Systems.
    • Objectives: to design and develop a Framework based on a plug-in multimodal architecture, invariant to configuration of Multimodal Components, to interpret and process emotional aspects in real-time for easy and fast development of applications for Art and Entertainment, paying attention to the value ofusers, who are no longer passive spectators of artistic performances, but stimulating sources of human communication.
