SMDS@Work 2018

November 15-17, 2018 – Promotionsworkshop (Beilngries)

For our annual "PhD Workshop" we met again at the "ABG Tagungszentrum" in Beilngries. The focus was on the exchange of current research topics, progress of dissertations, ideas for future developments and approaches for interdisciplinary research work. In addition, our new research assistant Fabian Rabe presented his research topics in the area of Medical Information Science and Machine Learning.

November 1, 2018, Publication at the IEMCON 2018 in Vancouver, Canada

We presented our paper "A Formal Optimization Model for 5G Mobile Network Slice Resource Allocation" at the 9th Annual Information Technology, Electronics and Mobile Communication Conference (IEMCON 2018). The paper proposes a mathematical model for solving the offline Network Slice Embedding Problem for 5G mobile networks, formalized as a standardized Mixed Integer Linear Program with a latency sensitive objective function.

September 17, 2018 – Publication at the HEALTHCOM 2018 in Ostrava, Czech Republic

In September, we presented our paper "Safety and Security Architecture Analyses Framework for the Internet of Things of Medical Devices" at the Technical University of Ostrava (VSB) at the 20th IEEE International Conference on E-health Networking, Application & Services (Healthcom 2018). This paper describes the necessity of analyses during design phase in the medical IoT field. We present our A2S2 Framework which can be used for IoT system modelling and for conduction of IoT analyses to identify vulnerabilities or architecture flaws earliest possible.

July 9, 2018 – Publication at the 5G-WF 2018 in Santa Clara, CA, USA

In July, we participated at the 5G Word Forum (5G-WF 2018) in Santa Clara. We presented our paper "A Network Slice Resource Allocation and Optimization Model for End-to-End Mobile Networks". The paper proposes a standardized and easy to understand Integer Linear Program for offline mobile network slice embedding, especially focusing on resource allocation and virtual node as well as link mapping. Moreover, the question of how to efficiently determine a nearly optimal end-to-end mobile network slice embedding on a shared network infrastructure is answered.

July 5, 2018 – Publication at the IMIS-2018 in Matsue, Japan

At the International Conference on Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing (IMIS-2018) in Matsue, we presented our paper: "A Network Slice Resource Allocation Process in 5G Mobile Networks". The paper describes our vision of an end-to-end network slice resource analysis for 5G mobile network slice instantiation.

June 12, 2018 – Publication at the CAISE 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia

Within the scope of the Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAISE 2018) we presented our paper „Evaluation of Microservice Architectures: A Metric and Tool-Based Approach“ at the CAISE Forum. In this publication we identified metrics and developed a tool for the evaluation of microservice architectures. The paper was developed in cooperation with MaibornWolff.

June 01, 2018 – Publication at the ICSE 2018 in Gothenburg, Sweden

We presented our „Poster: Evaluating Project Compliance during EA Planning“ on the this year International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE 2018). The work describes a semi-automatic method for Enterprise Architecture Planning and in specific for the evaluation of project compliance with the current IT strategy and goals.

April 14, 2018 – Study information day at University of Augsburg

Saturday, April 14 marked the day for the annual study information event at the University of Augsburg. On this day, interested high school students and their parents could find out about programmes at UniA and get to know the place of study.

As part of this information day, Adrian Rumpold presented the newly beginning undergraduate program Medical Information Sciences (starting winter semester 2018/19) and answered questions asked by the interested audience.

You can find additional information about the Medical Information Sciences undergraduate program on the web pages of the Department of Computer Science (in German) and at the Tag der Informatik (in German) on April 26 from 1:30pm to 6pm.

April 13, 2018 – Publication at the ICST/A-MOST in Västeras, Sweden

In the context of the "11th IEEE Conference on Software Testing, Validation and Verification" (ICST 2018) our research group contributed a talk at the related "14th Workshop on Advances in Model Based Testing (A-MOST)". Our colleague, Reinhard Pröll presented his work entitled "A Model-based Test Case Management Approach For Integrated Sets Of Domain-Specific Models".

March 1/2, 2018 – SMDS Strategy Workshop

The conference center within the monastery "Kloster Irsee" served again as venue for the annual strategy workshop of our professorship. This year, we focused on working out, evaluating and further linking ongoing project work, sections of research areas, applied concepts and emerging interfaces. In addition, we swapped ideas on future research fields as well as on the consolidation of a common software platform.

February 22, 2018 – Career and college counseling event at Gymnasium Friedberg

On February 22, Adrian Rumpold presented the newly created undergraduate program Medical Information Sciences (starting winter semester 2018/19) at the career and college counseling event at the high school in Friedberg.

During this afternoon, students could learn about possible career options in half-hour talks and Q&A sessions and gain insight about specific fields of work from industry professionals.

You can find additional information about the Medical Information Sciences undergraduate program on the web pages of the Department of Computer Science (in German).

January 22-24, 2018 – Publications at the MODELSWARD in Madeira, Portugal

Within the scope of the "6th International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development" (MODELSWARD 2018) and the following "Special Session on domAin specific Model-based AppRoaches to vErificaTion and validaTiOn" (AMARETTO 2018) we made two contributions.
