Research and teaching activities centre on the new requirements of communications technology, which are caused by the mobility of modern man. Among other things, we try to find answers to the question of how to ensure that local networks – for example in private and public buildings or in cars – smoothly merge into one another. Furthermore, we explore wireless ad hoc networking, self-organisation of networks and the set up of interfaces between public and local networks.

Students will not only acquire the necessary basic knowledge but in particular learn applicable know-how on current developments and practice-related questions in information and communications technology. A special emphasis is placed on the development of solutions for enterprises in communications and information technology as well as in the car industry.
