Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science comprises 10 professors, 70 employees, and approximately 700 students. We offer Bachelor and Master study programs in "Computer Science and Multimedia" and in "Computer Science and Electronic Commerce" as well as a Diploma study program in "Computer Science". The latter will be replaced by Bachelor and Master study programs "Computer Science" starting with the winter term 2008/09. We offer an Elite Master program on Software Engineering and participate in an Elite Master study program on FIM (Finance and Information Management). All study programs are taught in German language except for Software Engineering which is taught partly in German and partly in English.

Our research is organized in six research clusters:

• Multimedia (research groups of Profs. André, Lienhart, Kießling, and Möller)
• Software Engineering (research groups of Profs. Reif and Bauer)
• Organic Computing (research groups of Profs. André, Bauer, Knorr, Reif, and Ungerer, also part of the Centre of Excellence "ACIT")
• Software for Mechatronics (research groups of Profs. Bauer, Reif, and Ungerer)
• Multicores (research groups of Profs. Bauer, Knorr, Lienhart, Ungerer, and Vogler)
• Theoretical Computer Science (research groups of Profs. Hagerup, Vogler, and Möller)
